Happy Wednesday, one and all! I’ve officially got the first episode of my podcast done and done. To help celebrate Wyrd and Wonder–and because it’s just been recommended so gosh darn much–I chose to start with Raybearer by Jordan Ifueko. What does a reader experience in those opening pages, and what lessons can a writer take away in studying but a few paragraphs? Let’s find out together.
I hope you enjoy this sip from the story with me. Any feedback on the podcast itself will also be greatly appreciated, as I hope to make this a weekly thing. x

I’ll take a full read later. Best of luck with this ~ George

Many thanks, George! I’m hoping to keep these episodes under 20min max every time so they don’t eat up too much of one’s day. π

Thank you! I know there will be many kinks to work out over the first episodes, but I’m happy with the structure so far. π xxxxxxx

Not at all. Just know by experience that some things are baptisms of fire and then next time it’s all good. AND look at what you’ve learned to do.

xxxx Oh, Shey. You’ve got me all squishy inside. π xxxxx But you’re abso right. I tell the same thing to my students. We can’t just be magically good at something. We have to try at it, mess up, and try again. That’s how we learn what NOT to do. xxxxxxx

Spot on AND by learning what NOT to do we learn what TO DO.

Thanks! I’m thinking this could be a lot of fun…so long as I don’t trip over my own words too much, lol…

I think you did a great job! I’m intrigued by the story, and appreciate the short introduction (because, you hit it on the head- there’s just not TIME to check all of the books out!)

YES EXACTLY! We just don’t have time to “try” books. There’s already a couple books coming up I may like to read, but I’m not going to push in the podcast because they’re definitely an investment of focus.

Well done Jean. you have a great voice- warm inviting and dancing with mischief. The book is stunning what a good choice for a first cast. I think this will be a great success

Oh,I thank you! It was fun to make–and not a huge time drain! So I hope this is something I CAN keep up with despite kids coming home soon for summer. How are your plans coming? π

Hell’s bells, Ms Lee! It’s probably ‘me’ yet thus far I can’t get the pod cast to work. My screen shows a number ‘4 to the left; a 4 to the right and a little egg man in the middle, all on a purple backdrop’ and nought else. Help required. Regards, The Old Fool

Bugger! You’re not the first from Jolly Ole England to tell me this. I hope this link works!

Can’t wait to listen in, Jean. I’ve been thinking of doing this myself, but you know, one more thing and all. Happy Mother’s Day to you!

And a blessed Mother’s Day to you, too! I see the podcast as a little trade-off with keeping tabs on other social media like Twitter. I’d rather just share stuff about books than keep up with all the hashtags and other doodads. π
