A Moment of Autumn Peace and Gratitude.

Welcome back, my fellow creatives!

While I had intended to dive into some analyses right away, my conference work for the university ate up more time than I had predicted. So, let’s just pause and enjoy the peak of autumn colors.

In the days after taking these photos at Holy Hill and in the North Woods, we had some blustery thunderstorms that pulled all these beautiful golds and oranges to the ground. Only some stubborn burnt reds and browns remain in the Wisconsin farmscape.

Honestly, I was nervous about returning to the blog. Worried I’d be all talk and no walk, popping off that I’d rededicate myself but then never follow through. But it’s been a few months now, and I’ve persevered. I plan my posts and podcasts now, and I think I’ve pinpointed the time I can use to network with y’all on your own blogs.

November may be steamrolled with Christmas hype, but it’ll always be a period of gratitude to me. Thank you, my friends, for visiting me and my family. Thank you for reflecting on my meanderings. Thank you for sharing YOUR creativity so that we can build off of each other’s imaginations. You are each and every one of you a blessing on this creative’s heart. x

And so, what awaits us in the coming weeks? I’ve got some handy book resources to share from the past few decades, reflections on the nonsense revolving around Artificial Intelligence, and the unabashed joy of comfort food for the body and mind.

Read on, share on, and write on, my friends!

  1. I know life gets in the way of living sometimes but when you can, I do love reading your words. Can’t thank you enough for years of learning and enjoyment. xxxxxx

going round to my mum’s and her having this show on most weekdays. She joked that there was so many episodes, they would outlast her. 😂

    • It’s been a blessing to know you, my friend! And YES, this show seemed to go on forever. I’ve decided not to watch those later seasons, though–she starts to live in New York and use a computer. Balderdash to that! xxxxx

  2. Your beautiful autumn – gorgeous! And then looking on that little scrap from ‘Murder, She Wrote’ that wonderful typewriter… (I can almost smell it… and that particular sound…)

Have a great day for all of you!! xxxxx

    • Many thanks! All our color is gone now, and Blondie’s pining for snow. 🙂 And oh yes, that typewriter. We actually have a typewriter in storage that my sons keep trying to pull out. If I knew someone who could decently maintain it, I’d let them muck about, but I’m scared they’ll break it. 😦

  3. It is a month of gratitude to me as well. I’m smiling and looking at all the colours you’ve captured. Lovely. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Where is that sculpture of the children on the branch? Is that far north?

  4. […] So I mentioned a post or two back that I had attended a conference…I was presenting with a colleague of mine regarding the importance of helping students take an active role in their writing work. This has sadly been a debate in higher education ever since ChatGPT hit the scene. There were articles about the death of essay writing and that there would no longer be a need to teach composition. Are we just grading bots with the help of other bots? Because there’s plenty of AI programming out there, and plenty of AI help and support for students and teachers alike. Programs like Magic School can create feedback for teachers to share with students. I’ve seen it in action and plenty of students since last year have put ChatGPT to use in my classroom to turn in vague, milquetoast work. It’s become a struggle to show students that it is worth the extra time and effort to strengthen the power of their own unique voices. […]
