Welcome back, my fellow creatives! We’ll continue tasting the wares of fellow indie authors I have gotten to know in this beautiful community through the years.

I’m sure many of us can relate to dealing with bratty children at some point in our lives. (Or, we are raising those little buggers and are surrounded by them EVERY DAY. But I digress.) Let’s take a sip from flavors both relatable and fantastical in the brew Picky Eaters by S.J. Higbee.
What does a reader experience in those opening pages, and what lessons can a writer take away in studying but a few paragraphs? Let’s find out!
If you do not see the audio player above, you can access the podcast here.
If you’re ever in the mood for fascinating book reviews in mystery, science fiction, and fantasy, do check out S.J. Higbee’s kickin’ blog!
Be on the look out for more sweet indie goodness in the autumn podcasts to come!
Read on, share on, and write on, my friends!

Do forgive me for not making mention of the fact that I’d be away on holiday, Ms Lee. I’m back now and catching up! Regards, The Old Fool

No worries at all, Master Steeden! My teaching work has been keeping me absent on a horrible level. Oh, these students and their needy neediness…

They can be awful! 🙂 We love them all the same, but yes–they can be downright awful, the little buggers xxxxxxx

Aye. tuck her nose in the air, looked the other way, tried to walk out the house again as I took her in. This is two and a half.

Yes, I agree, Peggy! The take on “tinned food” for dragons still puts me in giggles 🙂

That’s a cool book cover. The type of cover you just go and buy then figure out what book you have bought. x

Annddd you must have thought that I’d fallen off the edge of the world, Jean! HUGE apologies for not getting in touch! You have done an EPIC job of presenting the story and teasing out the aspects that I wanted people to notice:)). And I love, love, love your reading of PICKY EATERS. I’m still battling the effects of Long Covid, though at present I’m now feeling well enough to sit in front of a computer again – when I came across this and it has totally brightened up my day! Thank you so very much for the shout-out and detailed analysis.
